About Malelane Citrus

Malelane Citrus is a citrus packing and export cooperative, situated in the Mpumalanga Province of South Africa in an area called the "Onderberg".

This is a sub-tropical area, about 120km from the Mozambican coastline, 57km from the city of Nelspruit and on the southern border of the Kruger National Park.

Malelane Citrus consists of four packhouses which pack grapefruit from April untill July and oranges from July untill August. The total volume of grapefruit packed and exported is on average1.5 million to 1.6 million cartons per year. Grapefruit varieties include Starruby, Rose (Ruby red) and Marsh. The total volume of oranges packed and exported is on average 300 to 400 thousand 15kg cartons per year. Orange varieties include Valencia, Delta Seedless and Midknights.

Grapefruit counts include 28,32,35,40,45,50,55,56/60 mainly packed in opentop 17kg display cartons. Orange counts include 40,48,56,60,64,72,88,90,105,125 mainly packed in telescopic 15kg closed cartons.

About 60% of our fruit is exported to Japan, and the remainder to various other markets including Russia, Europe, UK, Far East and the Middle East.
